PH & ZEB Education & Training
There is a wide variety of Passive House trainings available ranging from short introductory Passive House lectures to 1-day Passive House Basics courses up to professional 10-day Passive House Designer courses or customized in-house seminars. Self-study is an option too, maybe in combination with taking a “Certified Designer” or “Certified Tradesperson” exam. Becoming a Passive House trainer yourself is as easy: be involved in Passive House projects or retrofits and teach from your practical experience. Various training materials are available for sale from the Passive House Institute, so no need to reinvent the wheel. However, adaptation and translation is required to make your lectures a success. For an overview of offered trainings worldwide, please visit the iPHZEB events calendar (will be launched soon).
The ZEB ESCO offers the Certified Passive House Designer / Consultant certificate. There are two ways to acquire this certificate:

The courses in Farsi will be launched and announced here in ZEB ESCO in near future
2. Presentation of a Quality Approved Passive House construction project planned responsibly by the applicant and properly documented. General information on qualification through certified Passive House projects will be available here in ZEB ESCO soon; an example project documentations reports will be available under Publications Member Area here in ZEB ESCO in, or can be made available upon reque
Either one of the two mentioned conditions needs to be fulfilled in order to acquire the certificate and be registered in the database of Certified Passive House Designers. Once every five years, the certificate must be renewed by presenting a Quality Approved Passive House construction project.
The Certified Passive House Designer certificate shows potential customers that the holder has acquired the knowledge and experience needed to successfully plan and build Passive Houses.
Please see the Events calendar for information on upcoming courses and exams offered.
Designer versus Consultant?
The difference between Passive House Institute certified Designers and Consultants depends on your background. Designers come from highly relevant fields and their prior knowledge must be somehow proven by their degree etc, in order to get the Designer label. Click here for a list of typical professions. Consultants, on the other hand, can come from any background.

Upon completion of a two day “Train the Trainer” course, a licensing agreement can be signed allowing the Certified Passive House Designer course materials to be used “as is”, for the purposes of preparing others to take the Passive House Designer exam.
Zero Emission Building (ZEB) Training & Education
Focusing on reduction of GHG emissions in a life cycle perspective has promoted energy efficiency in the use phase, investment in new local renewable energy technologies, and reduction of GHG emissions from materials used, the construction process and end-of-life stage of buildings.
Research and development of ZEBs has taken place within five main areas:
WP 1: Advanced materials technologies,
WP 2: Climate adapted low energy envelope technologies, WP 3: Energy supply systems,
WP 4: Use, operation and implementation, and
WP 5: Definitions, concepts, strategies, and pilot buildings.
Main concept of ZEB underlies in Passive House Concept by focusing on reduction of GHG emissions in a life cycle prospective. ZEB approach has promoted energy efficiency in all phases of building life cycle namely material production stage, construction process, operation phase and end-of-life stage of buildings.
The ZEB ESCO offers training on ZEB Concept based on the very recent published book called “Zero Emission Buildings”. This book has been translated into Farsi and published by ZEB ESCO specialists. The course materials and calendars will be announced here in ZEB ESCO in near future.
